There is no separate Plus signup. Every account starts free; upgrading, and the choice between annual and monthly, happens inside the app.
The honest math: annual is $19.99 once a year; monthly is $2.99 twelve times, which is $35.88. Annual is cheaper, monthly is easier to walk away from. Both cancel in two clicks from settings, and cancelling never deletes anything — the details are on this page, not discovered after purchase.

What happens to my data if I cancel
IF YOU LEAVE · P. 3Cancelling never deletes anything. When a Plus subscription ends, your account continues on the free tier:
- Every item you created stays. Items above the 15-item cap become read-only — still visible, still counting down, never deleted. To edit them again, bring the count under 15 or resubscribe.
- There are no stored files to lose. Your scan allowance returns to 5 a month, and that is the whole of it.
- Export is available on every tier, always — before, during, and after a subscription. It is never a paid feature and never a retention lever.
- Reminders keep working for every item, including the read-only ones. A lapsed subscription should never be the reason you missed a renewal.
Deleting your account is a separate action with its own timeline, described in the trust center.

Questions people actually ask
ASKED · P. 4Is there a trial of Plus?
No, and that is deliberate. The free tier does the trial’s job without a clock on it: 15 items, five scans to try document reading, reminders, recurring items, and export, for as long as you like. Decide about Plus whenever a sixteenth item or a sixth scan would actually help.
Can I store documents in ValidThru?
No, on either tier. A scanned document is read in the moment and discarded immediately; we keep the three fields you confirm — document type, issuer, expiration date — and nothing else. Anything you need to keep should live somewhere built for keeping things.
Do I need a card to start?
No. A free account asks for an email address and nothing else. A card enters the picture only if you upgrade to Plus, and it is entered on Stripe’s checkout — full card numbers never touch our servers. Stripe is listed with the rest of our subprocessors in the trust center.
Will there ever be ads?
No. Subscriptions are the entire business model. We do not run ads, we do not sell data, and we have no plans that would change either answer — a list of your expiration dates is not ad inventory.
What happens when a free account reaches 15 items?
The sixteenth item is blocked with a clear message and an upgrade option. Nothing you already track is touched. There is no partial state — all 15 items on Free work fully.
Do the 5 free scans roll over?
No. The allowance resets on the first of each month, and the app always shows how many you have left before you start a scan — for example, “2 of 5 scans left this month”.
Can I switch between monthly and annual?
Not in place — billing settings handle cancellation and card updates, not plan changes. To move between the two, cancel the current plan; Plus stays on until the period you paid for ends, and you can then subscribe again on the other plan from the app. Nothing is deleted in between.
Will the price change?
If it ever does, existing subscribers keep their current price for at least 12 months from the announcement, and we tell you by email — not in a changelog you were supposed to find.
